Don't worry, I will not forget about your people, and I am not the only one. I just stumbled upon this video of two Domino's Pizza workers getting dirty with the food they prepare. One of the employees sticks some food up his nose before putting it on a customer's pizza, and he also farts (or pretends to) on a slice of salami:
After doing this little video, they uploaded it, and took it down shortly after. However, it seems the deed was done. Here is the video description from the Youtube's page of the video :
This is a great lesson on why you never post something like this on the Internet. These Domino's workers posted this on youtube earlier today (April 13, 2009) It was removed later this day but re-uploaded because these people deserve to be fired. If you want these people fired then Favorite, comment, and rate 5 stars so the word gets out and these people fired.
What a pickle for Domino's pizza who is going to have to spend millions in PR to make people forget about this incident and remind us that we eat junk all the time anyway. Here is Brian Solis' analysis of the incident on a brand crisis communications level.
We all have a sense of reciprocity. However dumb these two might be (or high), they are obviously getting back at their employer, not at the person who is going to eat the pizza. Filming this act and posting it online is obviously a way to step up and show that they have their say too. They too can be asses when they want to.
That's right: I am not encouraging food industry employees to fart on my food, but what goes around come around. I have worked in the restaurant industry for too long, in small businesses, and for big well-known brands. There is a lot of abusive behaviors coming from the store managers, and from the executive offices too.
I have a few questions for Domino's:
- Do you give a free meal to your employees?
- Do you give them bonuses when sales are good?
- How many of your store employees make it up to your executive offices in Ann Harbor?
- Are your employees paid more than minimum wage?
I am sure that the response is no to all of the above (who would want to eat Domino's pizza every day anyway?). Up until today, it was easy for food corporation to be more competitive financially by cutting costs on store employees, simply because they are big losers that nobody cares about anyway. As Domino's number are falling down, I wonder what the upper management is doing regarding its employees. Probably nothing.
Congratulations to you guys. The food industry in the US needs a voice, and through your childish behavior, you are showing the opportunity that social media brings to us small people.
